During the fall of 2017, I co-founded our schools mock trial team. In mock trial, high schools are given the same case and must prepare both a defense and a prosecution team. We rehearse the case and, in March, compete against other schools at the local courthouse.

In 2018, we received an honorable mention. This meant a lot to us, being a first year team. In 2019, we advanced to the state competition and placed 4th in the state. There were 57 teams that competed across the state of Michigan.

Mock trial has taught me invaluable debate skills and teamwork. Founding our mock trial team has also taught me leadership skills and how to organize a group of people.
